Gentle and Effective Chiropractic Care for the Youngest Patients

Chiropractic care is increasingly being used to support the development and well-being of babies and children. Complaints in this age group often arise from birth-related factors, falls during early walking, sports injuries, or poor posture during school hours. In some cases, congenital conditions such as scoliosis may be present, where early intervention during growth can help prevent further complications or improve existing issues.

Common Conditions We See in Babies and Children

Children may benefit from chiropractic care for a wide range of complaints, including:

  • Motor development delays

  • Head tilt or positional preference

  • Flat head syndrome (plagiocephaly)

  • Breastfeeding difficulties

  • HCFS/KISS syndrome

  • Persistent crying, irritability, or “colic”

  • Sleep disturbances

  • Neck or back pain

  • Headaches

  • Scoliosis

Examination

When a child is crying excessively or experiencing symptoms such as headaches or back pain, there is often an underlying cause. At Chiropractie Aalst-Waalre, we start with a detailed case history and a thorough orthopaedic and neurological examination. Based on these findings, we determine whether chiropractic care is appropriate, or whether referral to another healthcare provider (such as a GP, physical therapist, or occupational therapist) is recommended.

Treatment

During birth, growth, and development, tension or dysfunction can arise in the muscles, connective tissues, joints, or nervous system. This is particularly common in cases of assisted delivery (forceps or vacuum), induced labor, or very rapid births. Chiropractic treatment offers a gentle, safe, and effective approach to resolving these problems.

Because a child's body is very different from that of an adult, we use age-appropriate examination methods and very gentle, pain-free techniques. In infants, the pressure used is comparable to the pressure you would apply when pressing on your eyelid — light, precise, and safe.

Let us help your child grow, move, and feel their best — naturally.
